Habit forming
The hardest time to build a habit is starting. I've tried so many times to start "healthy habits", and writing is just the latest in the long line.
Breaking habits is relatively harder/easier, but it slips faster than you think.
Just look at my running habit. I used to run almost everyday, with the commensurate injury frequency. Now I can't bring myself to run anymore. Just like that.
Luckily I've been trying to build habits now that I know what I have to do at this point:
- do it everyday
- at around the same time
- doesn't matter how long
Enjoyment isn't really a prerequisite at the start. Eventually I find that I'll enjoy the act that the habit promotes.
